UTM Link Guard · Help for version 1.0.0
From campaign list to clear findings.
Start with one link, then use batch review and client rules when you need a repeatable handoff.
Review one link
- Open UTM Link Guard from Chrome's extension toolbar.
- Paste a complete HTTP or HTTPS URL and select Review link.
- Read each finding. Source, medium and campaign must be non-empty.
- If a naming correction is offered, compare it with your team convention before copying. Fix duplicate parameters manually and review again.
Review a batch
Select Batch review, paste one URL per line, and select Review batch. Blank lines are ignored; report line numbers refer to the original input. Invalid links remain visible as findings.
The display filter changes which links you see. CSV export always includes every reviewed link. Reports show 50 links at a time; use Show 50 more links to continue. Limits: 1,000 lines, 1 MB total and 8,192 characters per link.
Use client naming rules
Open Client naming rules. Give the pack a name and revision, optionally set exact approved medium values, choose uppercase/space preferences and whether utm_content is required. Select Apply client rules before reviewing. Approved medium values are case-sensitive.
Export JSON to share conventions. Import schema-version-1 packs produced by this editor, up to 64 KiB. Unsupported fields and malformed files are rejected. Imported packs never execute code. Rule-based review gives findings without automatically rewriting client-approved spelling.
Read the results
- FIX: missing or duplicated required tags, an invalid URL, an email-like UTM value, or a client-rule violation.
- REVIEW: a naming convention or a parameter outside the five standard names inspected.
- PASS: the stated naming checks passed; this is not verified attribution or a compliance certificate.
Troubleshooting
- Clipboard blocked: the proposed link is selected so you can copy it manually.
- Import rejected: use a supported JSON pack exported by this editor. Rejection removes the old applied pack and report to avoid showing stale rules.
- No report after editing: changes to input or applied rules invalidate old findings. Review again.
- Missing rows: check the display filter and the button to show more links. The export still includes the full reviewed batch.
- Work disappeared: session data is intentionally not saved across reload or close. Export first when you need a permanent copy.
Clear or remove your data
Clear workspace removes individual input, batch input, findings and applied rules. Clear batch keeps the current applied rule pack. Reload or close clears page memory. Delete exports or replace clipboard copies separately. Remove the extension through Chrome's extension manager when you no longer need it.
