Create reviewable Magento product drafts from supplier information

Create reviewable Magento product drafts from supplier information

Turn supplier information into drafts you can inspect

When supplier information arrives as documents or a prepared list, the first useful output is a product draft with traceable facts. AI Product Creation drafts simple Magento products, then keeps generated records disabled, hidden and out of stock for review. A product name is a starting label, not evidence of its dimensions, price or compatibility.

OpenAI or Google Gemini API usage can cost extra. You supply your own provider key. Review what supplier content you are permitted to send, and account for generation, correction and provider costs when comparing this route with manual entry.

When native Magento import is the better starting point

If a supplier already supplies a clean, mapped CSV, Magento's standard product import may do the job. Check the target attribute set, required values, import behaviour and a small sample first. Avoid selecting Replace merely because you want to update a few fields. If only a handful of products need creating, the standard product form can be easier to supervise.

Document extraction becomes useful when facts need matching to your Magento schema. The current public release, 1.0.4, offers Quick Generate, PIM Extract, Bulk Create and Schema Explorer. It creates reviewable simple-product drafts; it is not a complete product-information-management system or an automatic configurable-product builder.

Review the source-to-attribute match

Illustrative example, not an executed extraction: a permissioned supplier PDF describes a fictional work light WL-20 with a 20 W input and an IP54 rating, but gives no lumen output or selling price. Keep the PDF revision with the task. Map “20 W” to the appropriate power attribute only after checking its unit and data type. Do not convert watts into an invented lumen value or infer a price from another model.

Use the live schema or an approved snapshot to inspect proposed mappings. If the document suggests a new attribute, first check whether an equivalent attribute already exists, where it belongs, its unit and whether it should be customer-visible. The documented workflow requires explicit administrator approval before creating recommended new attributes. Approval should reflect a schema decision, not just acceptance of the extracted wording.

Keep a bulk job separate from publication

  1. Prepare a small CSV or JSON sample with unique SKUs and verified facts. Include a duplicate SKU and a missing optional value in your staging acceptance sample.
  2. Review the chosen store, attribute set and mappings before queueing creation. Check the job report, including malformed rows and failures.
  3. Inspect saved drafts. Confirm their disabled, hidden and out-of-stock state, rather than treating a successful job count as acceptance.
  4. Verify names, units, descriptions, categories and attributes against the source. A suggested category still needs a merchant decision.
  5. Set a deliberate commercial price, tax class, inventory, images and website assignment before enabling anything. Unknown draft prices default to zero; zero is not an approved offer.
  6. Open the intended public product and variant journey after publication and the normal indexing/cache process.

What this does not establish

A generated draft does not prove that a configurable family, fitment rule or stock integration is correct. The documented Admin workflow does not justify a claim that uploading a photograph creates a complete product. Missing facts remain missing, and duplicate-SKU rejection is a safeguard to verify in the exact installed build, not permission to omit backups.

The public offer lists Magento Open Source 2.4.9 and Luma compatibility. Check the exact purchased 1.0.4 package's PHP requirements and stage its installation and sample job. The existing guide video is recorded on 1.0.3; it is a setup reference, not a fresh acceptance result for your catalogue.

Choose the next step

Read the AI Product Creation product and module guide for supported inputs and setup. If records already exist and only their wording needs work, field-level content drafting is the narrower task. Google's AI content guidance supports review for accuracy and usefulness; it does not certify the resulting products.
